Zachary D. “Zach” Smith, 19, of Juliet Avenue, Topton, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Celebration Hospital, Kissimmee, FL where he had been a patient since July 7th. His fiancée was Natalie E. Silfies of Kutztown.
Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of Kevin A. Smith of Topton and Tammy A. (Bortz) Wessner of Topton. He was a salesman at Strictly-Foreign, Inc., Wescoesville, from 2004 to the present. He was a 2004 graduate of Brandywine Heights Area School District, Topton, where he was the Homecoming King and received the US Marine Corp Scholastic Excellence Award. He was attending Kutztown University, Kutztown. He was a goalie on the high school soccer team and also the Germania Soccer Club. He was a member of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, Dryville (Fleetwood).
He is survived by Fiancée, Mother and Step Father, Tammy A. (Bortz) wife of Steven Wessner, Topton; Father and Step Mother, Kevin A. husband of Kalyn (Miller) Smith, Topton; Maternal Grandparents, Robert and Maureen (Kleintop) Bortz, Topton; Step Maternal Grandmother, Sandra (Sanders) Miller, Fleetwood; Paternal Grandparents, Albert and Dawn (Kutz) Smith, East Texas; Step Paternal Grandparents, Warren and Irene (Geist) Wessner, Topton; Maternal Great Grandmother, Marguerite (Flickinger) Kleintop, Topton; Sister, Meghan N. Smith, Topton; and Half-Brothers, Cody W. Wessner and Dylan M. Smith, both of Topton.
Funeral Services are Friday, July 15, 2005, at 10:00 AM from Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown and Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
