William F. Hilbert, Jr., 85, formerly of District Township, Berks County, died peacefully, Thursday, December 28, 2023, in Devon House Senior Living, Allentown. William was the widower of Beverly A. (Gressley) Hilbert, who died April 15, 2022. Born in Kutztown, Bill was a son of the late William F., Sr., and Elizabeth T. (Kramlich) Hilbert. William was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Following his military service Bill began a career with BerkLeigh County Club, Kutztown, that spanned over 50 years. He first started working in the Pro-Shop, then advanced into Pro-Shop Management, and retired as affiliated member services. Bill and Bev had gained many friends in the membership at BerkLeigh over the many years he was affiliated there, and he and Bev often drove member's cars to their winter homes in Florida, something they enjoyed. Bill also enjoyed following high school and professional sports.
Following his retirement, Bill enjoyed attending public sales and auctions and operated a stand at Renninger's Antique Market, Kutztown.
William is survived by a sister, Bertha L. (Hilbert) Schott, Boyertown. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Beverly and parents, William was predeceased by his siblings, Mary A. (Hilbert) Arnold; Mamie R. Hilbert; Elizabeth A. Hilbert; a sister in infancy; John G. Hilbert; and George E. Hilbert.
A public graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Huff Church Union Cemetery, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, PA 18011, with The Reverend John Steitz, officiating. Interment in Huff Church Union Cemetery. There are no public viewing or calling hours.
