William A. Ferry, 85, of Longswamp Township, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in his residence. He was the widower of Ruth K. (Rhode) Ferry who died January 8, 1986.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John and Emma M. (Sankey) Ferry. Mr. Ferry was a member of Saint Marys Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Ferry was a union carpenter for Lehigh Valley Carpenters Union, Local 600, of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Bethlehem, for over 35 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member Mertztown Rod & Gun Club, a lifetime member of National Rifle Association (NRA) and the National Trapping Association (NTA).
He is survived by Daughters, Yolanda M. (Ferry) wife of Jeffrey A. Fegley, Kutztown, Michele P. (Ferry) wife of Scott T. Harding, New Tripoli, Roseann E. M. (Ferry) wife of Thomas J. Merkey, Windsor, Colo., and JoEllen M. (Ferry) wife of Todd Greiss Blandon; Sons, William A. Ferry, Jr. Charlestown, Mass. and Stephen C. husband of Janet (Fritch) Ferry, Alburtis. Other survivors include 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services are Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 3:00 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Tuesday, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, 133 Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.>>
