Willard H. Gernert, 82, of Kutztown, died Monday, January 17, 2011, in Kutztown Manor, where he had been a resident since April 2010.
Born in New Tripoli, PA, he was a son of the late Paul Gernert and Verna (Fenstermacher) Walker. He was the husband of Pauline E. (Arndt) Gernert, whom he married December 19, 1953. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for 40 years for the former Trojan Powder Co., Allentown and later worked as an auto detailer at Krause Toyota, Schnecksville, PA, until his retirement in 1990.
He is survived by Wife, Sons, Jeffrey L, husband of Kay L. (Himmelberger) Gernert, Lenhartsville, Bruce W., husband of Jeena D. (Fulton) Gernert; Daughter, Christine L. (Gernert) wife of Robert P. Frey, both of Kutztown, PA; Sisters, Geraldine (Gernert) wife of Samuel McClean, Harrisburg, and Joan (Gernert) McHalli, Tamaqua, PA; Step-Brother, Donald Walker, Kempton, PA. Other survivors include Grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Kelly, LisaBeth, Jason, Jenni, Michael and Andrew; Great Grandchildren, Samuel, Evan, Emily and Caden. He was predeceased by a Brother, Ronald Gernert.
Funeral Services are Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Grimsville. Friends may call Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to New Jerusalem Zion U.C.C. Church Memorial Fund, 1456 Krumsville Rd., Lenhartsville, PA 19534. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
