Wilhelm Robert Moser, of Kutztown, died on January 17th, in the presence of his loving family.
Wilhelm was born on January 20th, 1936, in Bern, Switzerland. His parents were Jakob Otto and Klara (Niederhauser) Moser.
He leaves his wife, Sheryl (Seidel) Moser, his two children Robert Moser, husband of Clare Dunkle-Moser, Wyomissing, Carol Moser-Wight, wife of Hugh Wight, Sudbury, Massachusetts, stepdaughters, Tara (Zerbe) Kessinger, Jacksonville, Florida, Brooke Zerbe, Philadelphia, PA, his brother and sister-in-law Johann and Elizabeth Moser, Hunibach, Switzerland, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary Eberle and brother, Roland Moser, both of Zurich, Switzerland.
Wilhelm graduated from the University of Bern, College of Engineering, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Swiss army tank division. After working in Geneva and Zurich he emigrated with his first wife, Liselotte (Sonderegger) Moser of Wyomissing and Leissigen, Switzerland, in late 1963, to Temple, Pennsylvania, to manage a Swiss owned manufacturing company.
In 1971 he joined two partners in Joma Machine Co., Inc. He became the managing partner as they moved from the Reading Airport to Shillington in 1972, eventually moving to Mohnton in 1998. He retired in 2011 after the sale of Joma to Seakeeper Inc.
A quiet gentleman who never lost his accent, he was a proud naturalized United States citizen. In his sixty years as a Berks County resident, he renovated and worked a farm in Maple Grove, Pennsylvania, and owned houses in Mohnton, Kutztown and a small cabin and art studio along the Saucony Creek in Kutztown.
Wilhelm was a talented painter, baker, historian and an especially gifted engineer and potter. He was awarded the status of Juried Member of The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen.
Arrangements will be private at the request of the family.
