Mr. Walter W. Schlitz

Walter W. Schlitz, 87, of Kutztown passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospital -Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. Born in Maple Shade, NJ, Walter was a son of the late William and Jennie (Scharbatke) Schlitz. He was a graduate of Cressona High School, and Kutztown State Techer’s College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English education. He later furthered his education by attending Temple University, Philadelphia, where he received a master’s degree in English education.

For over 30 years, Mr. Schlitz was employed by The Hamburg Area School District working as and English and History teacher at Hamburg High School until his retirement. Walter was passionate about animal rescue and was advocate for the environment.

His is survived by his sister, Jeanne M. (Schlitz) Zulick and her companion, Larry L. Moyer of Pottsville; and two nephews, Matthew Schlitz and Jonathan Schlitz. Along with his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Schlitz.

Services for Walter will be held at a later date.
