Walter W Hilbert

March 24, 1918 — June 6, 2005

Walter W. Hilbert, 87, formerly of Kutztown Road, Temple, died Monday, June 6, 2005, in Henry Health Care Center, Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, where he had been a resident since April 24, 2003. He was the husband of the late Florence A. (Mertz) Hilbert who died on August 29, 1991.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Peter H. and the late Annie A. (Fegely) Hilbert. He was a watchmaker and jeweler during the 1950’s and 1960’s; and, he was a cutter at the former U.S. Seating, Topton, for 19 years retiring in 1983. He was a member for 56 years, a trustee and Past Master in 1958 of Huguenot Lodge F. & A.M. #377, Kutztown; he was a member of the Rajah Shrine, Reading, for 56 years; he was a consistory member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Reading, for 56 years; and, he was a former board member for the Brandywine Area School District, Topton; and a former member of the Topton Borough Sewer Authority both during the 1950’s. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.

He is survived by 2 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson. He was predeceased by Son Rodney P. Hilbert in 1988 and Daughter Teresa A. (Hilbert) Giovannelli in 1989.

Graveside Services are Monday, June 13, 2003, 11:30 AM in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
