Walter J. “Squirrely” Walbert, 78, of Bowers, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He was the husband of Brenda J. (Landis) Walbert, they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Monday .

Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Paul C. and Ruth A. (Angstadt) Walbert. Walter was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Walter was graduated from Kutztown Area High School in 1953. Mr. Walbert first worked for Caloric Corporation, at its former Topton plant then he, along with his wife owned and operated Walbert's Carpeting, Bowers, for over 35 years until their retirement in 1997 .

He is survived by Wife of 51 years; Daughters, Kathy L. (Walbert) Reed, Reading and Tracey C. (Walbert) wife of Mark J. Spinka, Jenkintown, Montgomery County. Other survivors include a Sister, Jean (Walbert) widow of Roland C. Carver, Northampton. There are also 6 Grandchildren, Lindsay A. Reed, Chelsey L. Reed, Emily E. Spinka, Lindsey J. Spinka, Amani A. Otieno and Leah S. Spinka.  There is one Great Grandson, Carter R. McKale.

Memorial Services are Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown , 19530 . Inurnment with military honors in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home .
