Walter Geist

Walter A. Geist, 91, of Kutztown, formerly of Topton and Lady Lake, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kutztown. He was the widower of Virginia A. (Derr) Geist, who died on April 21, 2008, and the companion of the late Evelyn K. (Griess) Schlegel, who died on March 20, 2025.

Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, PA, Walter was a son of the late Elwood A. and Estella M. (Stewart) Geist and was a graduate of Longswamp Township High School. For 23 years, Walter was employed by the former Stroh Brewery Company, Fogelsville, retiring as a supervisor in 1994. Walter was an Endman in the former Brandywine Minstrel shows for several years. He also played on the Longswamp softball team and enjoyed going to the casinos and playing golf.

Walter is survived by his two children, Scott W., husband of Trudy (Kahler) Geist of Mertztown, and Shelly J. (Geist), wife of Peter Danni of Allentown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene F. (Geist), widow of Warren W. Wessner, Topton; brother, Ernest E., widower of Lucille J. (Meck) Geist, Breinigsville; daughters-in-law, Melissa (Borrell) Geist and Eileen B. (Phillips) Geist; sister-in-law, Diane L. (Burk) Geist, Alburtis, and their families.

Along with his parents, Walter was predeceased by sons, Phil L. Geist in 2006, Jeffrey L. Geist in 2023, and Gregory A. Geist in 2008; daughter-in-law, Suzy (Phillips) Geist Bailey; siblings, Joyce C. (Geist) Moyer, Linda M. (Geist) Miller, and ClenRoy E. Geist; and brother-in-law, Leonard Miller.
