Virginia F. (Folk) "Tootie" Schwoyer, 88, of Lyon Station, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026 in her residence. She was the widow of Ronald G. Schwoyer whom she married on December 24, 1957, and who died suddenly on February 4, 1996.

Born in Kutztown, PA, Virginia was the daughter of the late Russell F. and Dorothy N. (Miller) Folk. She was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1955, and was a proud member of their reunion committee. Tootie would always look forward to planning their yearly class reunions and spending time with her classmates.

For 47 years, Tootie was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, where she worked in accounts receivable. Tootie was the second office employee ever to work for East Penn and was the longest-tenured female employee until her retirement in 2003.

Tootie was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregation Church in Leesport. She previously attended Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bowers. She was also a member of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies (IARA) and Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Tootie enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening; in her younger years, she also enjoyed skiing, bowling, playing golf, sewing, and participating in a card club. For the 1976 Bicentennial, she proudly sewed 13 women's dresses and several men's outfits for the riders on the 'Deka' float, which went on to win first place for best costumes.

Tootie shared a special bond with her family, cherishing every moment spent with them and nurturing relationships that brought warmth and joy to their lives. However, she was a fierce competitor, especially when she played the domino game 'Mexican Train'. When the dominoes would hit the table, and everyone took their seats, she made it a point not to sit next to certain family members, and vice versa, as she would tell them, 'You always mess me up!' Yet, at the end of any family gathering, she would say, 'We always have a good time when we get together.' Virginia was a remarkable woman whose simple kindness and warm smile will be deeply missed.

Virginia is survived by her three children, Kim L. (Schwoyer), wife of Michael D. Youse, Jo A. (Schwoyer), wife of Dr. Michael L. Stevens, and Peter R., husband of Aubrey E. (Hekman) Schwoyer, all of Kutztown; nine grandchildren, Matthew B., husband of Lauren M. (Heckenberger) Youse, Lindsey E. (Youse), wife of Kolby T. Parent, Sarah C. (Youse), wife of Russell M. Martorelli, Emily B. Stevens, Adam M. Stevens, Harley Schwoyer, Ronan P. Schwoyer, Max X. Schwoyer, Alena L. Schwoyer; five great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Ethan, Evelyn, Naomie, Jace, and one due in April.

Along with her husband and parents, Virginia was predeceased by her two sisters, Carol J. (Folk) Gambler and Donna M. (Folk) Schwoyer.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care she received from St. Luke's Hospice Unit. The nurses and aides who visited her over the last few months treated her with professionalism, respect, and endless kindness. They guided her and our family through difficult days, reassuring her that although her journey here was ending, her next one would be even more rewarding.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Virginia's life will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, PA. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:15 to 10:45 AM at the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Tootie's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
