Virginia C Kern

Virginia C. (Conrad) Kern, 84, of Kutztown, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the loving wife of Gerald P. "Jerry" Kern, whom she married on February 25, 1956.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Virginia was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Clara I. (Baer) Conard. She was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers, and was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Virginia was the co-owner and operator of the former Village Flower and Gift Shop, Lyons, for 10 years. She had also been employed as a sprayer at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, and as a payroll secretary at the former Gotham Clothing Factory, Reading, and most recently worked part-time at Trexler's Florist, Topton. Virginia enjoyed playing BINGO and going on bus trips. She also was an avid collector, acquiring Longaberger baskets, dolls and bells.

In addition to her Husband of 61 years, Jerry, Virginia is survived by her 2 Children, Twins, Jill S. (Kern), wife of Norman H. Buck, Jr., and Jan L., husband of Connie L. (Behler) Kern, both of Mertztown; a Brother, John P., husband of Marian E. (Ziegler) Conrad, Kutztown; 3 Grandchildren, Monica A. (Kern) Bojt, Justin P. Kern and Abbey E. Buck; and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Lukas and Jakob Bojt. She was predeceased by her Parents, and a Brother, Willard Conrad.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Burial will follow in Becker's St. Peter's Cemetery, Fleetwood (Richmond Township). Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
