Violet M Yoder

Violet M. (Henning) Yoder, was born on October 21, 1931 in Lewistown, PA, to Rev. Arthur J. Henning and Ruth (Grothehen) Henning. Her stepfather was Clarence Brodin. She was predeceased by her husband and closest friend, Paul R. Yoder of Kutztown, PA. They passed as they lived, inseparable.

Her father, Rev. Arthur Henning, was a Lutheran pastor in central Pennsylvania. In 1944, due to unfortunate circumstances, her mother Ruth Henning took a job at the Lutheran Orphans Home in Topton, PA (now The Lutheran Home at Topton) and moved there with her children. Violet resided there from September 2, 1944 to May 30, 1949. Her nickname at the Home was Posy.

She graduated from Kutztown High School in 1949 at the top of the Commercial section and was offered a job at the Kutztown Publishing Company. She started in the secretarial pool and became the beloved and trusted bookkeeper for the corporation, retiring in 1996.

Violet and Paul were married on February 24, 1951, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kutztown, PA. They had recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kutztown for most of her life, where she sang on the choir for many years and was a faithful member of the Bible study group. She will be remembered as very kind, loving and thoughtful person, and an excellent cook.

Violet is survived by her Brother, Donald Henning and wife Sherrie of Carlsbad, CA; Brother-in-law, Max Bleiler of Fleetwood, PA; and her Sister-in-law, Mary Henning of Milford, KS. In addition, she has 10 nieces and nephews; 17 grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and 1 great-grandnephew. She is predeceased by Brother, Arthur C. Henning of Sparta, GA; Sister, Edith (Henning) Bleiler of Fleetwood, PA; Sister, Dorothy Henning of Holiday, FL, and 5 nieces and nephews.

Joint Funeral services with her husband Paul will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. There is no public viewing. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
