Verna M Schlegel

Verna M. Schlegel, 88, of Windsor Castle Road, Hamburg died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Laurel Center Hamburg. She was the widow of William J. Schlegel who died April 21, 1984.

Born in Alsace Township. Verna was a daughter of the late Glanze and Carrie E. (Wartzenluft) Weidner. Verna was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Beckerman’s Shoe Factory for 10 years, Kutztown Shoe Co. for 20 years, and Deisher Knitting Mill, Kutztown for 10 years retiring in 1979. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown.

She is survived by Son, David W. husband of Janet M. (Epting) Schlegel, Hamburg: Sisters, Mary A. widow of Harry Dries, Norman, Oklahoma, Mamie M. widow of Lester Behler, Kutztown and Edna wife of William Conrad, Mertztown. She was predeceased by a sister Elda Moatz; Brothers Clarence and Ellis Weidner and a Grandson Shawn D. Schlegel who died in 1993.

Funeral Services are Saturday February 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

The family requests contributions to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund 201 East Main Street, Kutztown 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
