Thomas P Hilt

Thomas P. Hilt, 83, of Alburtis, died Monday, April 5, 2010 in his residence. He was the companion of Barbara A. (Roth) Herbert and the husband of the late Alice E. (Schmoyer) Hilt who died on February 1, 1986.

Born in Catasauqua he was a son of the late Jacob Hilt and Mary E. (Ference) Hilt-Frack and Stepson of the late Earl L. Frack. He was a member of Longswamp UCC Church, Mertztown. Mr. Hilt was a 1944 graduate of Emmaus High School, Emmaus, and served in the Air Force during WWII. He served as Mayor of Alburtis during the late 1960’s and 1970’s. He was an engineer at the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant retiring in 1985; prior to that he was a plant foreman for 25 years at the former Lehigh Engineering, Bethlehem; and, a sheet metal mechanic for 10 years at Hill Metal and Roofing, Allentown.

He is survived by Companion; Son, David T. Hilt, Walnutport; Daughter, Lisa E. (Hilt) wife of Dominic D. Brandolino, Schnecksville; Sister, Marguerite M. “Peggy” (Hilt) widow of Kermit C. Schoch, Mertztown; Grandchildren, Dominic T. Brandolino and David J. Brandolino; and, Goddaughters, Jennifer A. Schoch and Deborah A. Schoch.

Funeral Services are Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

The family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, NE PA District, 212 East Broad Street, PO Box 1392, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
