Thelma G Boyer

Thelma G. Boyer, age 99, formerly of E. Weis Street, Topton PA, died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 in the Henry Health Care Center of the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the Widow of the late Elam C. Boyer who died in 1986.

Born in Topton PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles O. and Melinda F. (Herbst) Herman. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. She was a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ray A. Master Post #214 American Legion, Topton. She was a Switchboard Operator from 1918 until her retirement in 1956 for the Conestoga Telephone and Telegraph Company, Topton, retiring when it converted to the dial system. In 1910, three years after the telephone system came to Topton, the switchboard was located in Thelma's father's home. She was also a knitter at Leininger Hosiery Mills, Lyon Station, in the 1930's and 1940's.

She is survived by her Daughters, Marjorie B. (Boyer) Mabry of Mertztown PA, June C. (Boyer) Fisher of Topton PA and Roseanne M. (Boyer) Kobylinski of Cherry Hill NJ; Son, Robert L. Boyer of Lynchburg VA; 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the Family. There are no calling hours. Interment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton PA. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton PA.
