Mrs. Susan M. Fry

Susan M. (Bartol) Fry, 69, of Kutztown, died Friday, December 3, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  She was the wife of Les Fry.  They were married June 19, 1971.  Born in Danville, Montour County, Susan was a daughter of the late Daniel W. and Mary (Kaschock) Bartol. She was the step daughter of the late Carl Santor.  Sue was a member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.

Susan grew up in Shamokin and was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Coal Township, Northumberland  County, Class of 1970.

Sue was last employed as a secretary at State Farm Insurance, Carl Weller Agency, Kutztown.

Susan enjoyed cooking and passing on favorite family recipes, especially halupkis, city chicken, pierogies, and baking whoopie pies, pizzelles, lemon meringue and coconut cream pies.  Sue enjoyed attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren.  She loved watching Penn State Football and Jeopardy, but most important to Susan was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, Les, Susan is survived by her children: Christy M. (Fry), wife of Thomas R. Schearer, Jr., Kutztown; James D., husband of Kathi D. (Young) Fry, Fleetwood; Gregory M., husband of Sarah L. (Spaid) Fry, Raleigh, NC.  There are seven grandchildren:  Thomas R. Schearer, III; Samantha L. Schearer; Danielle M. Schearer; Nicodemus J. Fry; Zachariah D. Fry; Nolan J. Fry and Marisa E. Fry.  Other survivors include a brother, Daniel J., husband of Diana (Flynn) Bartol, Oro Valley, AZ.  In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by a brother, Michael "Mickey" Bartol.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 9, 2021, in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, with The Reverend John F. Maria, as Celebrant.  Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.  Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown; and again on Thursday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the church.
