Susan J Spayd

Susan J. (Acker) Spayd, 71, of Bowers, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in her residence. She was the loving wife of Dennis R. Spayd, whom she married on February 6, 1965.

Born in Longswamp Township, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Jean (Weil) Acker. Mrs. Spayd was a member of Saint Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton, and was a 1963 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton. Susan was employed by The Lutheran Home at Topton, for 13 years, working as a Housekeeper, until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter. Susan enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and traveling to flea markets and the casinos. She always looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas, when she could decorate her home on the inside and outside.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, Dennis, Susan in survived by a Daughter, Debra L. Spayd, companion of Daniel C. Reitenauer, Kutztown, and Son, Kevin R. Spayd, companion of Mandy L. Hauck, Bowers; Sister, Judy (Acker) Sechler, Mertztown; Brother, Richard C. Acker, Exeter. Susan is also survived by 2 Step-Grandchildren, Kayla (Hauck) Kramer and Brett Hauck; and one Step-Great Granddaughter, Ryleigh Kramer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Rodger M. Ulrich officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.) Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
