Sterling C. “Wimpy” Bailey, 71, of East Earl, PA, is resting peacefully as of Friday, February 12, 2016. He had been a resident at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home, Narvon, PA for one month. He was the loving and devoted husband of Sandra A. (Masters) Bailey, whom he married on February 8, 1964.
Born in Krumsville, he was a son of the late William C. and Laila M. (Heinly) Bailey. Sterling attended Conestoga Mennonite Church, Morgantown, and was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Kutztown. Wimpy was employed for over 22 years by Berks Products, working at both their Kutztown and Temple Plants, as a welder and also performing many other duties. He was previously employed by Liquid Asphalt; David Seem, Inc., and Ernest Frederick, Kutztown; Paco Products, Reading; McDermott Brothers Boiler Works, Allentown; Herbert Rock’s Exxon Station, Krumsville; and Kutztown Shoe Factory. Wimpy will always be remembered for his kind, sweet and humorous demeanor. He was a sports enthusiast, who loved playing and watching baseball and enjoyed playing pinochle. He also loved driving people around the countryside.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra; 2 Daughters, Sharon L. (Bailey), wife of Philip G. Graves and Susan L. (Bailey), wife of Lyle F. Mohr, both of Kutztown; 5 Grandchildren, Brian Graves, Chayse Mohr, Nick Mohr, Jaclyn Mohr, Frank Mohr; one Great Granddaughter, Reiley Hercik. He is also survived by 2 Sisters, Rose (Bailey) Greth, Debbie (Bailey) Becker; and 2 Brothers, Dennis Bailey and Randy Bailey. Wimpy was predeceased by his Parents; Sister, Evelyn Bailey; and 2 Brothers, Raymond Bailey and Richard Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 12:00 noon in Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main Street Morgantown, with Pastor Bob Petersheim officiating. A luncheon will be served following the service at the church. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, February 18, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and again on Friday morning from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon in the church.
