Stephen Scrip, 77, of Alburtis, died Friday, October 18, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the widower of Dolores J. (Hess) Scrip who died February 8, 2006.
Born in New York City, New York, he was a son of the late Anna Lantz. Mr. Scrip was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He attended Boyertown High School. Mr. Scrip was employed as a laborer by Cabot Corporation, Boyertown, for 38 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, and Pikeville Sportman's Association. He was an avid New York Yankees Fan. He enjoyed rose gardening, keeping up with his home landscaping, traveling, morning walks with Butch and Dutch, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
He is survived by Daughter, Susan M. (Scrip), wife of Charles C. Kayhart; Son, Stephen M. Scrip, both of Alburtis; Sister, Carol Andrukatis, Boyertown; Brother, Nicholas Scrip, Lancaster; Uncle, John Scrip, Salt Lake City, UT; 3 Grandsons; Jason M. Scrip, Erik S. Kayhart, Bryce M. Kayhart; four-legged companion, Barnabus. He was predeceased by Sisters, Janice Tarowski and Annette Lantz; and a Brother, Frederick Lantz.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 10:30 AM in Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis. Interment, with military honors provided by the Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, will follow in Huff's Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton; and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
