Mr. Stanley M. Chmielewski

Stanley M. Chmielewski, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice R. (Skrabak) Chmielewski.

Stan was born in Norristown, PA, and was the oldest son of the late Stanley and Mary (Flack) Chmielewski. Stan graduated from Bishop Kendrick H.S. in 1959 and attended Mansfield University where he met his wife, Alice. They married in 1963, had five wonderful children, and were married for 54 years. Stan had a deep true love for Alice, and he mourned her deeply after her passing. In 1974, Stan left his job as an accountant/treasurer at Greys Ferry Brick Company to buy Deturk Hardware in Kutztown. For the next 50 years, he worked tirelessly to offer exceptional customer service and quality products to a community he loved.

Stan was known for his quick smile, great hugs, goofy jokes, deep conversations and was always ready to debate politics. He loved deeply, was fiercely independent, and had an unwavering positive mindset. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

Stan is survived by his five children, Tania Meese (Patrick), Tara Greenawald (Troy), Teri (Susie) Gallo (Joseph), Stanley (Ted) Chmielewski (Alyssa), and Tiffany Humer (Seth). He was also blessed with eleven grandchildren: Amanda, Joshua, Zachary, Samuel, Sarah, Harold (Riley), Emma, Julia, Joey, Jimmy, and Maggie; and four great-grandchildren: Alister, Walden, Willow and Owen. Stanley also leaves his siblings Robert Chmielewski (Evelyn), Kenneth Chmielewski (Karen); Katherine Brophy (Theodore), and Marie Wrubel (William).

A funeral mass to celebrate and honor Stanley's life will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at noon at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown, PA 19530 with The Reverend John C. Maria, Celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:00 am to 11:45 am in the church. Stanley will be laid to rest with his wife in a private ceremony.
