Sophia Harpel

Sophia Harpel, 91, formerly of Topton, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in the Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Twp. She was married to the late Benjamin F. Harpel who died February 16, 1981.

Born in Deutschreuz, Austria, she was the daughter of the late George and the late Sofia (Folbert) Hellwig. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Peter’s United Church of Christ Church, Topton.

She is survived by Son, George H. Harpel, Mertztown; Daughters, Catherine H. (Harpel) Unger, Mohnton, Patricia A. (Harpel) Confer, Topton, Yvonne F. (Harpel) Klappenbach, Harper, TX, Mildred M. (Harpel) wife of William Oswald, Alburtis, Lehigh County, PA; Brothers, George Hellwig, Mertztown, John Hellwig, Loganton, Clinton County, PA; 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 10:30 AM from Saint Peter’s United Church of Christ Church, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton. Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Visitation with family Thursday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the church.
