Solomon E Sherman

Solomon E. Sherman, 73, of Mertztown, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Jane L. (Hanna) Sherman, whom he married August 25, 1956.

Born in Stowe, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late George E. and Estella (Hogentogler) Sherman. He was a self-employed carpenter/general contractor since 1990, last working in March. Prior to that, he was a salesman for Bachman Foods, Reading for 27 years and a milkman for Bechtel’s Dairy, Royersford for 12 years. Solomon was hard working, loved helping people, was a loving father and loved God. He was well known for his healthy cookies. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by Wife, Daughters, Emma Marie Hanna, Sedona, AZ, and Sandra L. (Sherman) wife of Glenn A. Schaeffer, James Creek, Huntingdon County; Sons, Solomon J., husband of Kathleen S. (Mackie) Sherman, Barto, and TSgt. Jonathan D., husband of Shaleen (Jones) Sherman, Clovis, NM; Sister, Naomi E. (Sherman) widow of Stanley Kijek, Douglassville; Brother, Thomas E., husband of Ruth Sherman, Pottstown. There are also 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 6 brothers.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone eat more watermelon. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
