Shirley W. Althouse

Shirley W. (Wertman) Althouse, 91, formerly of Greenwich Township, died peacefully Monday, January 18, 2021, in Henry Health Care Center on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Township, where she was a resident for nearly four years.  Shirley was the widow of Clarence M. Althouse who died December 16, 2003.  Born in Krumsville, Shirley was a daughter of the late Russell and Evelyn (Scheirer) Wertman.

Shirley was employed as store manager for the former Kuzmann Interiors, Fleetwood, until her retirement.  In her spare time Shirley enjoyed gardening, and her three cats.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Renee L. (Kern), wife of Otto K. Schick, Weisenberg Township.  There is also a step son, Edwin and his wife, Gloria Althouse, Davidsonville, Maryland, and a granddaughter, Kelly M. Schick; step grandchildren, Bryan, Yvonne and Michelle.  In addition to her parents and husband, Clarence, Shirley was predeceased by a step son Clarence L. "Hans, Jr."

A private graveside service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held by the family in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood, PA.
