Shirley M. Nester

Shirley M. (Moyer) Nester, 91, died Monday, March 9, 2026, in her Shoemakersville residence. Born in Kutztown, Shirley was a daughter of the late John and Beulah M. (Adam) Moyer.

Shirley first worked in the cafeteria for Boyertown Area School District then, as a sewing machine operator for many years for Gilardone, Inc., Virginville. And finally, worked as an administrative assistant for AT&T, Breinigsville, until her retirement.

Shirley enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, especially with her granddaughter, Kim. She was also an avid walker.

Shirley is survived by her son, Scott W., husband of Karen M. (Matosin) Nester, Auburn. There are also two granddaughters, Kimberly A. (Nester), wife of Barry Schaeffer, and Tamatha J. Naftzinger; great grandchildren, Alex Warunek, Lindsey Schaeffer, Josh Winter, Eric Nipple, Cody Nipple, Chris Nipple, Nicholas Nipple, Justin Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Jada Burdine, and Hunter Lewis. There are also six great-great grandchildren, Cooper and Malakai Warunek; Delaney, Bruno and Isla Burdine; and Madeline Lewis.

Shirley was pre-deceased by grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Nester, and Dana Marie (Naftzinger) Lewis; and siblings, Betty (Moyer) Schlegel, Joyce (Moyer) Moll, and John Moyer.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Road, Kutztown, with The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman, officiating. Interment in Zion Moselem Church Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
