Shirley M. Strohl, 74, of Palmerton, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where she had been a patient since March 21 st . She was the wife of the late Lowell E. Strohl who died on November 13, 1992.
Born in Palmerton, PA she was a daughter of the late Astor A. and Loretta E. (Haydt) Shupp. She attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown. She was a nurse’s aide at Palmerton Hospital, Palmerton. She then worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Natalie’s Fashions, Palmerton, for over 20 years and as a fabric inspector at Stanwood Mills, Slatington, until her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by Daughters, Kim L. (Strohl) wife of Donald R. Gruber, Palmerton, Connie L. (Strohl) wife of Rev. John W. “Jack” Davies, Macungie; Sisters, Linda J. (Shupp) wife of Lannie Kline, Spring Hill, FL., Nancy L. (Shupp) wife of Paul W. Fralix, Palmerton; Brother, David A. husband of Jayne E. (Topopoczny) Shupp, Allentown; Grandchildren, Derek T. Everett, Trent P. Everett, Christopher P. Everett, Tara L. (Davies) Thomas, Brent M. Davies, Robbie D. Gruber, and, 9 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by Sisters, Gloria (Shupp) Serfasss and Brenda (Shupp) Fisher, and Brothers, Kevin Shupp and Paul Shupp.
Memorial Services are Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 4:00 PM in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown. Inurnment is private at the convenience of the family. Friends my call Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in the church.
