Mrs. Shirley M. Steffy

Shirley M. (Hertzog) Steffy, 89, formerly of Mertztown, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in the Buehrle Center, on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton.  Shirley was the widow of Henry F. Steffy, who died September 13, 2000.  Born in Topton, Shirley was a daughter of the late George Hertzog and Blanche (Eckert) Hertzog Day.  She was a member of Saint Peters United Church of Christ, Topton.

Shirley was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis. Later, she worked in the same capacity at Jo-Del Manufacturing, Topton.

Shirley enjoyed watching her favorite game shows, playing bingo, and participating in the many activities offered to the residents at Buehrle Center.  She also cherished the many friendships of fellow residents and staff at Buehrle.

Shirley is survived by three sons: Roy R. Steffy, Kutztown; Dale H. Steffy, Mertztown; and Dean A. Steffy, Fleetwood; two daughters: Karen A. (Steffy), wife of Larry R. Santee, Breinigsville; and Cindy L. (Steffy), wife of Timothy R. Masenheimer.  Other survivors include a sister Dorothy (Hertzog), widow of Carl Keiser, Kutztown.  There are seven grandchildren: Jarrad M. Santee; Justin A. Santee; Corey Steffy; Angela Steffy; Trisha Steffy; Matthew Masenheimer and Jenna Masenheimer; nine great grandchildren: Emma Santee; Ellie Santee; Henry Santee; Luke Santee; Kiersten Santee; Michael Santee; Ryan Steffy; Skyler Kline, and Paislee Dierolf.  In addition to her husband, Henry, and parents, Shirley was predeceased by a sister, Mary (Hertzog) Werley; brothers, Lee Hertzog and George Hertzog.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Shirley's life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with The Reverend Crystal Angstadt, officiating.  Interment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton.  Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
