Shirley J. (Ogden) Lutz, 75, of Maxatawny Township, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Kenneth A. Bleiler. They were married August 29, 1981.
Born in Stouchburg, Berks Co., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth A., Sr. and Alva I. (Witters) Ogden. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegels Union Church, Breinigsville. She graduated from Reading High School in 1954. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Library Science and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, both from Kutztown University. Mrs. Lutz was an elementary school teacher, teaching first, fifth and sixth grades for Kutztown Area School District from 1964 until her retirement in 1982.
In addition to teaching, she was Justice of the Peace in Maxatawny Township from 1964 to 1970 and also served as the Tax Collector for Maxatawny Township from 1982 to 1996. Shirley was a Notary Public and Tax Preparer, businesses she operated from her home. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter, #336, Kutztown. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club for many years.
She is survived by Husband, Daughter, Pamela J. (Lutz) Holley companion of Randy J. Conrad, Kempton; Daughter-in-Law, Diane L. (Christman), Kutztown, widow of predeceased Son, Jacob A. Lutz, Jr. who died December 4, 2008; Step-Daughter, Susan J. Bleiler, and Step-Son, Robert K. Bleiler, both of Kempton. Other survivors include a Brother, Lynn H. husband of Kathy (Kates) Ogden, Seattle, Wash.; Grandchildren, Shannon D. (Weidner) Howie, Savannah, GA, Jacob A. Lutz, III and Adam L. Lutz, both of Kutztown; Step Grandchildren, Krystal R. Bleiler, Tampa, Fla., Amber M. Bleiler and Jade R. Bleiler, both of Kempton. She was predeceased by a Brother, Kenneth A. Ogden, Jr.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 8:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street Kutztown, 19530. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
