Mrs. Shirley G. Batz

Shirley G. (Adam) Batz, 94, of Saucony Cross, Kutztown, and formerly of 220 W. Barkley Street, Topton, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 in Pennsburg Manor, where she was a resident since May, 2020. She was the widow of Harold W. Batz, who died December 18, 1985.

Born in Richmond Township, Shirley was a daughter of the late Lloyd A. Adam and Mabel L. Dunkel and attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Krumsville. Shirley spent most of her life as a homemaker, but prior to that, she worked at the former Price Batteries in Hamburg and the Kutztown Wallet Factory.

Shirley was a member of the Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Topton, where she served as a past Sergeant at Arms. She also loved her flowers.

Shirley is survived by her son, Donald G., husband of Brenda "Bonnie" M. (Kerchner) Batz, Topton; two grandsons, Daniel D., husband of Michelle (Dietrich) Batz, Kutztown and David D., husband of Andrea (Brintzenhoff) Batz, Blandon; and four great-granddaughters, Alexis, Briahna, Cassandra and Rebecca.

A funeral service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown (Greenwich Township).

A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, April 21, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
