Scott D. Heiter, 72, of Kutztown, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 19,2023, in his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Christine M. (Oswald) Heiter, whom he married June 7, 1975. And they were blessed to have enjoyed 50 years of life together. Born in Allentown, Scott was the son of late Donald R. and Gloria F. (Snyder) Heiter. He was also a most devoted father to daughter Casey K. (Heiter). Scott and his family attended Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Kutztown.
Scott was a graduate of Brandywine Heights Area High School, Class of 1969 where he was a stand-out 3 sport athlete and has since been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He continued his education at East Stroudsburg University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education, in 1973.
Scott took immense pride in being a life-long educator and coach. He began his five decade coaching career with boys basketball at Kutztown High School in 1978. In the years that followed he coached boys and girls basketball along with baseball and soccer at Kutztown High School and Middle School, as well as boys basketball at Brandywine Heights High School. Scott enjoyed being a coach and sharing his expertise and mentoring the many students and athletes he had the honor of working with. Scott taught health and physical education at Kutztown Area Middle School until his retirement in 2016.
Above all else, Scott's greatest joys in life came in the many moments shared with his family. Whether it be mid mountain for a ski competition, on the side of the soccer pitch, front row at a gymnastics meet, playing guitar, going on walks, or sharing a great cup of tea, Scott could always be found by his grandchildren's sides. He was the first to offer a quiet moment of strength and a sweet smile to his daughter, share a quick-witted laugh with his son in law, and thoroughly enjoyed the beach and traveling, making everything a fun adventure with his partner, his wife Chris.
Along with his wife of 48 years, Chris, Scott is survived by his daughter, Casey K. (Heiter), wife of Alan R. Hallman, Kutztown, and grandchildren: Samuel Scott Hallman; Bella R. Hallman; Abram C. Hallman; and Lacie N. Hallman. Scott is also survived by a sister, Marcia A. Heiter, Topton.
In lieu of formal viewing services a moment of silence and memorial will be shared during the Cancer Awareness varsity soccer game between Kutztown and Brandywine Heights in Scott's memory on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Kutztown Area Senior High School, 50 Trexler Avenue, Kutztown.
