Schirla M Silsdorf

Schirla M. Silsdorf, 89, formerly of Bowers, died, Saturday, June 22, 2013, in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of the late Ralph F. Silsdorf, who died May 29, 2006.

Born in Rockland Township, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Eva (Mertz) Scheidt. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Bowers. Mrs. Silsdorf was the Post Mistress for the United States Post Office in Bowers for 26 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Bowers Lioness Club, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by Daughter, Janice E. (Silsdorf) wife of Terry G. Summons, Sr., Bowie, MD; Son, Frederick W., husband of Thuy T. (Leu) Silsdorf, Kempton, PA; Sister, Mildred (Scheidt) wife of Robert Lake, Topton; Grandchildren, Christopher and Terry G. Summons, Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Kailey, Allison and AnnaGrace Summons. She was pre-deceased by a Great Granddaughter, Mary Grace Summons, Sisters, Roma (Scheidt) Houptley and Mabel (Scheidt) Boyer and Brothers, Paul and Elmer Scheidt.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM in Hope Lutheran Church, Bowers. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery of Bowers. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
