Samuel A. “Sonny” Stettler, 85, of Topton, died on Thursday evening, October 6, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the loving husband of Joan E. (Grill) Stettler, whom he married April 15, 1995.  His first wife, Betty Jo (Scarborough) Stettler died in 1994.

Born in Maxatawny Township, he was a son of the late Samuel O. and Erma (Betz) Stettler. A graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Mr. Stettler was a Technical Sergeant with the United State Air Force, retiring after 23 years of service. He then worked at Garden State Tanning, Fleetwood, for five years. He was a member of Zion Union Church, Kutztown, Disabled American Veterans, Topton Lions Club, where he was currently serving as President, Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown. Sam enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family, and he loved to travel.

In addition to his Wife of 21 years, Joan, Sam is survived by Children, Samuel B., husband of Tammy L. (Smith) Stettler, Mertztown, William T., husband of Gail (Holbrook) Stettler, Kingsland, GA, Charles D., husband of Slobodanka (Nikolic) Stettler, Kokomo, IN, Anna A. (Stettler) wife of Marvin S. Martinez, Goose Creek, SC, Christopher A. Boyer, Topton, and Dee wife of Ray Stewart, Tupelo, Miss. There are also 13 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. In addition to his Parents and first wife, he was predeceased by a Son, Reinhold Rostowski in 1993 and a Daughter, Anna K. Stettler during infancy, and a Sister, Anna H. (Stettler) Parker.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Zion's Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, with Reverend Jeffrey J. Butz, officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in memory of Samuel to Zion's Union Church Memorial Fund, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
