Ruth W Burkholder

Ruth W. Burkholder, 80, of Richmond Township, Berks County, PA died Monday, June 29, 2009 in her residence. She was the wife of Menno M. Burkholder. They were married on January 4, 1951.

Born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel S. and Frances W. (Weaver) Horning. She was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Fleetwood Mennonite Church, Fleetwood. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by Husband, Menno M.; Daughters, Esther H. wife of Eli M. Martin, Shelby, Ohio, Anna Mary H. wife of Leon B. Shirk, Shiloh, Ohio, Lavina H. Burkholder, Fleetwood, Ruth Etta H. wife of Leroy Z. Nolt, Fleetwood; Sons, Samuel H. husband of Edna Z. (Nolt) Burkholder and Rufus H. husband of Ida B. (Nolt) Burkholder, both of Fleetwood, Menno H. Burkholder, Jr., Shiloh, Ohio; Sisters, Sarah W. wife of Rufus M. Oberholtzer, New Holland, Martha W. wife of Edwin Z. Shirk, Ephrata; Brothers, Mahlon W. husband of Mary M. (Zeiset) Horning, Noah W. husband of Emma N. (Zimmerman) Horning and Titus W. widower of Edna M. (Rissler) Horning, all of East Earl. There are also 37 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by Brother, Samuel W. Horning, Jr. in 1933; Grandson, Andrew N. Burkholder in 1997 and Granddaughter, Frances N. Burkholder in 1983.

Funeral Services are Monday, July 6, 2009 at 9:00 AM from the Burkholder’s residence at 2670 Moselem Springs Road, Fleetwood with services continuing at Fleetwood Mennonite Church, Fleetwood. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, July 5th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at her late residence. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
