Ruth M. (Greiss) Leibensperger, 91, of Alburtis, passed away on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025. She was the loving wife of LeRoy K. Leibensperger, whom she married on February 20, 1954. She was a daughter of the late William E. and Pearl N. (Kemp) Greiss. Ruth was born on her family’s farm in Longswamp Township, where she also spent many years working.
Along with her husband of nearly 71 years, LeRoy, Ruth is survived by three children, Phyllis G. Leibensperger, New Tripoli, Sally M. (Leibensperger), wife of Gordon Rothenberger, Fleetwood, and Robert A., husband of Denise M. (LaFaver) Leibensperger, Mertztown; brother, Earl E., widower of Lorraine M. (Seaman) Greiss, Topton; and sister-in-law, Norma J. (Godfrey) Greiss, widow of predeceased brother, Melvin L. Greiss; Alburtis. Ruth is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jason, Lindsay, Nadine, Nathan, Hannah, and Madeline; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Hunter, Ryileigh, and Rowen. Ruth was predeceased in 2023 by her son David; a brother, Ernest Greiss and sister, Frances (Greiss) Leibensperger.
Ruth was a lifetime member of Huff's Union Church, Alburtis. Ruth served the church in many capacities including Sexton, and was a member of the Ladies Aide where she assisted with many of the church functions. She enjoyed working to prepare for the annual church picnics in the park, especially to make her delicious turkey BBQ and lemon pies. Ruth was a talented baker who was employed by Weis Markets in Kutztown, working in their bakery for many years. In addition to baking and cooking, Ruth loved to take care of her home and care for her flower beds. She was a member of Kutztown Grange No. 1836.
Ruth always had a very strong love and connection to her family, which included always making time to babysit her grandchildren. Ruth's life was a tapestry woven with kindness, strength, and compassion. We're all much better for having her as part of our world. Her unrelenting love and positivity showed us that we don't judge or cast opinions. From her eyes, the sky was always blue and "it'll all work out” was something she often said. If we all took just a piece of her outlook on life, we'd live in a much better world.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. As we gather to celebrate her life, we invite all to join us in remembering the beautiful soul that Ruth was. A funeral service to celebrate and honor Ruth's life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, with The Reverend Angelee Benner-Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Huff Church Union Cemetery.
