Ruth M. DeLong, 84, formerly of East Weis Street, Topton, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in the Lutheran Home at Topton, Topton, where she had been a resident since August of 1997.
Born in the village of Bowers, Maxatawny Township, she was a daughter of the late Joseph DeLong and Verna (Rothermel) Behm. She was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where she was president of the ELCW during the 1980’s and a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. She was a laborer at the former Leininger’s Hosiery Mill and, at East Penn Manufacturing from 1967 until retiring in 1985, both of Lyon Station. She was a member of the Topton Pioneer Grange for 60 years and their Overseer for 10 years.
She is survived by Step Brother, Paul Gangawere, Mertztown; Nieces, Doris J. (Gangawere) wife of Gary S. Williams, Mertztown, Jane L. (Gangawere) wife of Arlan C. Krick, Lenhartsville, and Nephew, Richard A. husband of Julie (Angstadt) Gangawere, Mertztown.
Funeral Services are Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Friends may call Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
