Ruth H. (Mowrey) Hatton, 87, formerly of Bethlehem, PA and Haines City, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Complete Care at Lehigh Center, Macungie. She was the widow of James Hatton who died on October 29, 2021.
Born in Bethlehem, Ruth was a daughter of the late Harry T. and Mary A. (Frederick) Mowery, and was a 1953 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem. She honorably and faithfully served in The United States Navy, and was a former member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Ruth was employed by Sure-Fit Slipcovers, Bethlehem, for 22 years, working as a switchboard operator. She later worked for UGI Utilities, Bethlehem, as a phone and computer operator, for 15 years, until her retirement in 2005.
Ruth was a member of Hellertown Sportsmen's Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha A. (Weiss), wife of Arnold Needham, Lenhartsville, PA; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (Mowrey), wife of Russell Fritz, Hellertown; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and along with her husband Jim, was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Mowrey) and John Pittner.
A joint graveside service for both Ruth and James, concluding with military honors by The United States Navy (Ruth) and Army (James) will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
