Ruth Eggerling

d. November 21, 2011

Ruth “Betsy” Eggerling, 69, of Mertztown, died Monday, Nov 21, 2011 after a sudden stroke.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Porter and Ruth (Feaser) Groff. Betsy’s entire life was devoted to serving and helping others. She was a tireless worker for those less fortunate from all walks of life and cared about the well being of the world, planet and environment. Betsy had strong opinions and wanted to engage others, often writing in the ‘Letters to the Editor’ column of the Reading Eagle, challenging people to examine their beliefs. Betsy loved bringing people together and had an immensely inclusive, welcoming spirit. She was a person of true moral stature. Oh, but she loved to laugh and to play, to appreciate nature and art! She opened her home to a countless assortment of people.

She was supported in all her efforts by the quiet loving strength of her husband Robert. Betsy is survived by her husband Robert; her Daughters, Darree wife of Jeffrey Sicher, Kempton, PA, and Becky Robin, Syracuse, NY; 3 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandchild; 2 Sisters and 1 Brother and a vast supporting cast of characters from every walk of life. Everyone who knew and loved her will miss her compassion, love and humor.

Memorial and Celebration of Life Services will be held Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 4:00 PM in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 257 West Walnut St. Kutztown, PA.
