Russell J Rhode

Russell J. Rhode, Jr., 71, of Lyon Station, died Monday, December 12, 2016, in his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Jean L. Sutliff. They were married May 8, 2012.

Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Russell J., Sr., and Erma A. (Kutz) Rhode. Russell was a truck driver, first as an owner-operator with his wife Jean, then he was employed by Gotwals Trucking, Oley, until his retirement in 2012. Russell enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR events, golfing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his wife of 4 years, Jean, Russell is survived by 3 Daughters, Wendy S. (Rhode) wife of Ron Maring, Cedaredge, CO; Julie S. (Rhode) wife of Neal H. Fenstermaker, Kempton; and Donna S. Rhode, Allentown; a Step Son, Jason T. Smith, Galton, Potter County.  Other survivors include 3 Sisters, Sylvia (Rhode) widow of Gerald Fies, St. Petersburg, Fla., Theresa (Rhode) widow of Robert Kerchner, Mertztown and Sharon (Rhode) widow of Lee Sicher, Topton.  There are 3 Grandchildren, Riley J. Stoudt, Billings, MT; Carter R. Stoudt, Cedaredge, CO and Austin N. Fenstermaker, Kempton; a Step Granddaughter, Lacy P. Smith, Galton, PA and a Great Grandson, Bridger J. Stoudt, Billings, MT.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family requests contributions be made in memory of Russell to American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
