Russel A Geiger

September 1, 1919 — July 17, 2006

Russell A. Geiger, 86, of Kutztown, died Monday, July 17, 2006, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he had been a patient since July 10 th . He was the husband of Erma C. (Fegley) Geiger who resides at the Lutheran Home at Topton. They were married on September 2, 1939.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, he was the son of the late Howard E. and Nora R. (Moll) Geiger. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was a furnace operator at Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, from 1964 until his retirement in 1984. He was a part time police officer for Kutztown for 7 years; and a lay minister at the former St. Paul’s UCC Church, Mertztown, for 9 years. He was a member of the Kutztown Auxiliary Police for 4 years; manager of the Kutztown Baseball Little League for 8 years; and a member of the Kutztown Fire Company Fire Police. He was a member of the Christian Congregation Church, Mertztown.

He is survived by Wife, Daughters, Ann L. Geiger, Hazelton, Luzerne County, Cindy L. wife of Larry E. Hartman, Emmaus; Sons, Mark E., Hamburg, Glenn A., Sinking Spring; Sister, Shirley widow of LeRoy Ziegler, Mertztown; Granddaughter, Sheila J. Hartman Hein wife of Scott Hein, Emmaus, and 5 other Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren, Caregivers, Lori Heckler and Steve Holmes. He was predeceased by children Kerry L. Geiger in 2004 and Gayle E. Geiger in 1972.

Memorial Services are Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Christian Congregation Church, Mertztown. Interment private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

The family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of Christian Congregation Church, PO Box 36, Mertztown, 19539, or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Assn., PO Box 878, Reading, 19603-0878. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
