Roy J. Ludwick, 83, of Haines City, Florida, formerly of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Fla., where he was a patient for one week. He was the husband of Beverly M. (Marshall) Ludwick. They were married September 9, 1950, having recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Roy J. and Mildred F. (Kresge) Ludwick. He was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Bethlehem, where he served as the first layman president of the consistory. He was a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher and served as the financial secretary and chairman of the finance committee for many years. He remained active in the church until relocating to Florida last year. Roy was a US Military Veteran serving as a combat medic with the US Army 24th Division, 5th Regimental Combat Team. He received the Korean service medal with one bronze star, United Nations Service Medal for Korea and the Combat Medical Badge.

Mr. Ludwick was employed as a sales manager of the former Bethlehem Steel Company, Bethlehem, in the Structural Sales division until his retirement in 1988. He was also a former Executive Director of the Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce. Roy attended Moravian College, Bethlehem. Roy received his Eagle Scout award from the Boy Scouts of America when he was 16 years old, one of the youngest to achieve that honor at that time. He later became a Boy Scout Master. Roy enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Tall Cedar Golf League at Green Pond Country Club, Bethlehem.

He is survived by Wife, Sons, James R. Ludwick, F.D., companion of Eileen M. Gleason, Kutztown and Thomas M. husband of Susan M. (Kohoutek) Ludwick, Marietta, GA. Other survivors include Grandchildren, Amy M. (Ludwick) Edmonds, El Dorado Hills, CA, Beth A. (Ludwick) wife of Dale A. Duncan, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Karen D. (Ludwick) wife of John D. Matthews, San Francisco, CA and Reverend David T. Ludwick, Blythewood, SC, and a Great Grandson, Jayden A. Duncan. He was predeceased by a Sister, Jean L. (Ludwick) Rogacs.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM in Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Avenue, Haines City, FL 33844. Interment in Rolling Hills Cemetery, Winter Haven, FL. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
