Roy Burkey

Roy A. Burkey, 67, of Topton, PA, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. He was the loving husband of Karen L. (Yenser) Burkey.

Born in Reading, Roy was raised by Tony and Dee LaMastra of Lenhartsville. Roy was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School and attended North American School of Bookkeeping and Accounting where he earned his business degree. Roy also completed PC servicing at NRJ. For 45 years, Roy was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., working at their Lyons, Topton and Kutztown facilities until his retirement. Roy was a great friend and mentor and was often referred to as the "Work Dad" by many of his co-workers.

Roy had a love for music, especially 70's rock and disco. He was also a huge Penn State fan and had an interest in computers. His passion for computers led to multiple years of volunteering in the early 90's in the elementary schools in the Brandywine Heights Area School District, where he taught students computer basics. He was awarded the Berks County Friends of Education Award in 1994. Above all, his greatest love was his family, especially his granddaughter, Ryleigh.

Along with his wife Karen, and parents, Roy is survived by his two daughters, Rachael A. (Burkey), wife of Troy A. Kemp, and their daughter, Ryleigh, of Mertztown, and April L. Burkey, of Topton.

A viewing will be held for Roy on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Tribute and a time for sharing at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA.
