Roy A Meitzler

Roy A. Meitzler, 83, formerly of Woodside Avenue, (Longswamp Twp.) Mertztown, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, in The Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Twp., Berks County, PA. He was married to the late Corinne A. (Good) Meitzler who died September 26, 1982.

Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton L. and the late Jennie I. (Keiser) Meitzler. He was last employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Lyons as a tool & die maker from 1970 until his retirement in 1986. Prior to that he worked for Caloric Corp., at its former Topton plant, from 1940 to 1970. He also worked at the former Trexler Grocery, Topton during the 1950’s. He also worked for the former Paul Good Turkey Farm, Mertztown, and former Penny’s Florist, Mertztown. He was a US Air force veteran of WWII. He was a B-17 pilot stationed in England. He attained the rank of Captain. He was a drummer with the Junior Legion Drum Corps, Topton, during the 1930’s. He was a 50-year member of Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton. He also served as Commander of the Son’s of the American Legion, of the Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton. He was a committee member of the former Boy Scout Troup 110, Topton. He was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.) where he has been a Deacon since 1982. He was also a Deacon and former member of Saint Peter’s UCC Church, Topton.

He is survived by Sons, Thomas R. Meitzler, Allentown, PA, Daniel B. Meitzler, Kutztown (Longswamp Twp.); 4 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson. He was predeceased by a Daughter, Virginia S. Meitzler, who died December 24, 1952.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, June 29, 2005. at 10:00 AM from Evangel Assembly of God Church, 217 Hottenstein Road, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Friends may call Tuesday evening 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
