Roma E Houptley

Roma E. Houptley, 80, of Fredericksville Road, (Rockland Twp.) Mertztown, PA, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where she was a patient since January 18, 2005. She was married to the late Paul H. Houptley who died January 24, 1994.

Born in Dryville (Rockland Twp.), Berks County PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter B. and the late Eva I. (Mertz) Scheidt. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild, was a member of Women’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA), she also served on the special projects committee, and was Director of Bulletins and Flowers for the last 36 years.

She is survived by Sons, Glenn R. Houptley, Fleetwood, Dennis L. Houptley, Kutztown, Leroy P. Houptley, Macungie; Daughters, Linda L. (Houptley) Berlew, Topton, Nancy A. (Houptley) Zimmerman, Fleetwood; Sisters, Mildred (Scheidt) Lake, Fleetwood, Shirla (Scheidt) Silsdorf, Bowers, PA; 12 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Saturday, January 29, 2005, at 10:00 AM from Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood (Rockland Twp.). Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. (Rockland Twp.). Friends may call 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the church.

Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
