Rodney P Kern

Rodney P. Kern, 65, of Breinigsville, died Friday, January 7, 2011 in Liberty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Allentown, where he was a patient since December 27, 2010. He was the husband of Margaret E. “Peggy” (Hendricks) Kern. They were married July 18, 1987.

Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late John and Mae (DeLong) Eck. He worked as a laborer at Structural Steel, later known as Service Utilities, Allentown until his retirement in 1996. He was a member and former member of the Board of Directors of Wescosville Fire Company.

He is survived by Wife, Son, Randy husband of Carol Ann Kern, Bath; Sister, Carol (Kern) Merkel, Schwenksville, and a Step Brother, Eric Eck, Reading. Other survivors include 4 Grandchildren, Randy, Ryan, Cullin and Veronica. He was predeceased by a Sister, Marcia (Kern) Rothenberger.

Funeral Services are Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Friends may call Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
