Robert Swanstrom, 76, of Kutztown, formerly of Bethpage, NY, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Carolyn (Lawson) Swanstrom who died Sept. 20, 2009.
Born in Bethpage, NY, he was a son of the late Oscar and Alma (Petersen) Swanstrom. He was Catholic. Mr. Swanstrom first worked as an automotive machinist at the former Abbey Auto Parts, Bethpage, NY, over 20 years. He then worked over 10 years as a self-employed clam digger in the Great South Bay out of Burnett’s Marina, Bayshore, Long Island. Lastly, he owned and operated the former Auto-Rite Machine Company, Bethpage, NY until his retirement in 1997. He was a 1953 graduate of Bethpage Highschool, Bethpage, NY. Robert was a member of Whitman Flyer’s Club, Long Island.
He is survived by Daughters, Laura (Swanstrom) wife of Albert Adornetto, Kristine (Swanstrom) Siefert, both of Mertztown, PA and Kari Swanstrom, at home. Other survivors include a Brother, George E. Swanstrom, Kutztown, PA and Grandchildren, Anthony, Kristie, Jamie, Jillian and Thomas. There is also a Great Granddaughter, Shelby. Robert was predeceased by Brothers, William “Yngva” and Walter Swanstrom.
Graveside Services are Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY. There is no viewing.
