Robert P. Helbert

Robert P. "Bobby" Helbert, 76, of S. Heidelberg Twp., formerly of Maxatawny Twp., died on Friday, January 26, 2018, in Saint Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was a patient since January 18, 2018.  He was the husband of Harriet E. (Moyer) Helbert.  They were married April 20, 1963.  Born in Longswamp Twp., he was a son of the late Ernest V. and Rachel C. (Reichert) Helbert.  Bobby was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Bowers, where he served as sexton from 1977 until 2004.  He was also a former church council member.  Bobby was employed 42 years by Kingsley Group of Boyertown, formerly Boyertown Foundry, until his retirement in 2004. Bobby was a member of Pike Township Sportsmen's Association, Oley; Kutztown Fire Company, Kutztown; and Lyons Fire Company, Lyon Station.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Bobby is survived by a daughter, Amy L. (Helbert) wife of Samuel R. Wynn, S. Heidelberg Township; sons, Keith W., husband of Christine M. (Schittler) Helbert, Bowers; Glenn D. husband of Machell D. (Martis) Helbert, Centre Twp. Other survivors include Robert's twin sister, Rebecca M. (Helbert) wife of William Truitt, Alburtis; sisters, Brenda A. (Helbert) wife of Richard Rohrbach, Bally; Alice R. (Helbert) wife of Dennis Siegfried, Kutztown; brother, Stanley R., husband of Kathy (O'Neil) Helbert, Lyon Station. There are also eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Emma (Smith), widow of predeceased brother, Charles F. Helbert. Bobby was predeceased by an additional brother, David E. Helbert. There are also two granddogs, Sonny and Lea, whom provided much joy and comfort.

A funeral service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, with Rev. Elizabeth A. Haines, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers.  Relatives and friends may call Thursday 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in the church.
