Robert N. Jacklin, 81, of Lenhartsville, died Friday, November 7, 2014, in Kutztown Manor Nursing Home, Kutztown, where he was a guest one month. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Miller) Jacklin. They were married December 6, 1991.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Wayne and Vera (Lutz) Jacklin. Mr. Jacklin was Catholic. He proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bob was employed as a security guard by Saint Joseph Medical Center, Reading, for over ten years until his retirement in 1998. Prior to that, he worked in the same capacity at Hamburg Center, Hamburg, over five years. Robert was a sports enthusiast, watching any sporting event he could. He also enjoyed travelling to and playing at the casinos.
He is survived by Wife; Son, Michael husband of Sharon (Bertolet) Jacklin, Oley; Daughters, Robin, Melinda and JoAnn. Other survivors include Step Daughters, Robin J. (Ely) wife of Ralph O. Kauffman, Macungie and Tina L. (Ely) wife of Steven Weigle, Hamburg; Step Son, Kevin K. husband of Alesia (Deesing) Ely, Hamburg. There is also a Half-Brother, Arthur A. husband of Rose Maie (Ziats) Purcell, Reading; 4 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren and 9 Step Great Grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 3:00 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
