Robert L. Reinhard, 81, of Mertztown, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in the in-patient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mildred C. "Millie" (Romig) Reinhard. They were married November 7, 1953 anticipating their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Born in Linfield, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Manrow J. and Myrtle M. (Geist) Reinhard. He was a member of Saint Peters United Church of Christ, Topton, where he served as an elder, a past church consistory president, and a former Sunday school teacher. Mr. Reinhard was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. He was employed as a delivery driver by Newhart Foods, Coplay, Lehigh County, retiring after over 20 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for People to Places and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 10 years. He also volunteered at The Lutheran Home at Topton, providing spiritual comfort for those in need. Robert also dedicated his time as a coach for Topton Little League and American Legion baseball. Robert was a man known for his sense of humor, kindness and love of life. He liked to play baseball and golf and loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by Wife, Daughters, Debra J. (Reinhard), wife of Willard J. Miller, Blandon, Patricia K. (Reinhard), wife of Dale I. Schaeffer, Susan G. (Reinhard), wife of Kurt H. Showalter, both of Topton; Sons, Michael R., husband of Charlotte J. Reinhard, Pottstown, Thomas A. Reinhard, Topton; Sisters, Anna M. Scheidt and Janice L. Angstadt; Brothers, Gene D. Reinhard and Ronald M. Reinhard. There are also 10 Grandchildren, Kelly L., wife of Lucas D. Torres, Kimberly S., wife of Darin M. Kitashima, Stephanie L. Schaeffer, Matthew D. Schaeffer, Keene A. Showalter, Derek M. Reinhard, Chad E. Reinhard, John C. LaDow, Kyle T. Reinhard, Logan B. Reinhard. He was predeceased by Brother, James Reinhard.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 26, 2013 at 1:30 PM in Saint Peters United Church of Christ, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton. Interment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the church.
