Robert E. Rarick, 89, of Kutztown, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Renaissance Home Pinebrook, Orwigsburg, PA. He was the loving husband of Ruth N. (Leymeister) Rarick, whom he married on July 27,1957. Born in Pottsville, PA, Robert was a son of the late Archibald and Neida (Potts) Rarick and was a graduate of Orwigsburg High School.
Robert honorably and faithfully served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed for over 30 years by The United States Postal Service, last working in Reading, PA as the head of maintenance. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers, and Hoch-Balthaser American Legion Post 480, Kutztown, PA. Robert loved hunting and enjoyed going to the casinos. He was also an avid yard sale participant, constantly searching for recycling treasures in his spare time
Along with his wife Ruth, Robert is survived by his four children, Sheila M. (Rarick), wife of Michael C. Hollenbach, Kutztown, Jeffrey L., husband of Gail G. (Gerberich) Rarick, Orwigsburg, Robert E., II, husband of Diane K. (Shade) Rarick, Bowers, and Gregory S., husband of Lisa M. (Angstadt) Rarick, Kutztown; 10 grandchildren, Matthew C. Hollenbach, and wife, Katie, Austin M. Hollenbach, Charlene M. (Rarick) Knauss, and husband, Kyle, Cole C. Rarick, Robert E. Rarick, III, and wife, Sara, Benjamin P. Rarick, Jonathan R. Rarick, and wife, Juliana, Christopher T. Rarick, and wife Skylar, Joshua P. Rarick, and wife Kortnee, and Elizabeth M. Rarick; six great-grandchildren, Owen Hollenbach, Norman Knauss, Margo Knauss, Ryder Rarick, Maci Rarick, and Bristol Rarick.
Robert is also survived by two sisters, Loretta (Rarick) Leymeister, Orwigsburg, and Fern (Rarick) Moyer, Orwigsburg; and along with his parents, was predeceased by a grandson, Clint L. Rarick, and siblings, Reta (Rarick) Antalosky, Carl Rarick and Russell Rarick.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Robert's life will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend Martin A. Milne officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made in Robert's memory to American Cancer Society AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, 110 W. Laurel Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19012.
