Robert D. Castimore, Sr., 70, of Main Street, Mertztown, PA, formerly of Washington, Newark, Parsippany, NJ, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp., near Allentown, where he was a patient since July 16, 2005. He was the husband of Margaret A. (Bell) Castimore, they were married August 17, 1963.
Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Lafayette J. and the late Laura E. (Tuers) Castimore. He was last employed as a greeter for BJ’s Wholesale Club, Muhlenberg Twp., Berks County, PA for the past two years, last working earlier this month. Prior to that, Conrail, now Norfolk Southern, at its Allentown, PA depot, employed him as a Trainman for 32 years. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member and past Commander of Frobisher Post #99, American Legion, Kearney, NJ in 1961. He was also a member of Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton, PA. He was a baseball coach for the Washington, NJ, Little League Organization for several years. He was also a baseball coach for the American Legion Baseball Team, Topton, PA. He was Camp Ranger of Scout Acres Boyscout Camp, Boonton, NJ for several years. He also served on the Scout Committee of Troop #309, Saint John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He was a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown (Richmond Twp.).
He is survived by Wife, Son, Robert D. Castimore, Jr., Topton, PA; Step Son, Mark D. Whitehouse, Maxatawny, PA; Step Daughter, BobbiAnn Whitehouse, Rockaway, NJ; Sisters, Joan M. (Castimore) wife of Robert D. Barry, Plymouth, Minnisota, Margaret J. (Castimore) wife of Brian McManus, Inverness, Florida; 3 Grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 01, 2005, at 9:30 AM from Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown (Richmond Twp.), with the Rev. Msgr. Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Interment is private. Friends may call Sunday, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA and Monday, 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the church. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
