Robert B. Franke, 89, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Topton, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Robert was the widower of Dorothy A. (Nies) Franke, who died January 27, 2009. Born in Colebrookdale Township, he was a son of the late William C. and Catherine S. (Boyer) Franke. Robert was a former member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, Oley.
Bob was employed as a maintenance supervisor at the former Western Electric Company, Muhlenberg Township, now Lucent Technologies, for 28 years until his retirement in 1984. Robert loved working with computers and taught residents at The Lutheran Home how to operate and become familiar with computers for many years. He was also known for his daily five-mile walks around the campus.
Robert is survived by a stepson, Richard K. Reiver, Stonersville. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by a stepson Kenneth D. Reiver; and a brother Eugene B. Franke.
A graveside service consisting of Military Honors accorded by the Pennsylvania Military Honors Group representing the United States Army will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003. Robert will be laid to rest with his beloved Dorothy. There are no public viewing or calling hours.
